Here's what your child needs when travelling alone:

• A valid ID (identity card or passport)
• The assistance form that you complete at the airport
• An official travel authorisation from your local council

What permission does your child need?
There are no standard Belgian or international forms for parental travel consent, but TUI strongly recommends arranging an official travel authorisation from your local council:

• If your child travels with one parent: the accompanying parent needs written consent from the other parent, confirmed by the local council
• If your child travels alone: permission from both parents is required

Important

• Contact the embassy or consulate of the destination country for any additional requirements
• For Portugal, a travel authorisation for minors is mandatory!

Important: from 31 August 2026, children aged 5 to 11 will no longer be permitted to travel unaccompanied, and we will no longer offer the Unaccompanied Minor (UM) service on our flights. New UM bookings will no longer be possible from 31 August 2026. All existing bookings with the UM service will remain valid and will be honoured as booked.
